I’m a Fan

I don’t mean a reciprocating, fold out, metal bladed, electic, or belt-run, either.  There are things I genuinely enjoy, will make an effort to enjoy, and most definitely prefer above other things.  You know what fans are.  You’ve all said you’re a fan of something.  Well, most of you have.  One of the things I’m a fan of is National Public Radio (NPR).  I don’t listen to it often, but I get their morning and evening news shows in podcast form via Google Reader.  So, here are some things I’m a fan of that were on NPR recently.
Wash. Mail Carrier Seeks Right To Wear Kilt To Work

Rather than go into it, you should listen to that story.  What I’m a fan of here is kilts.  I own a Locharron Elliot tartan 16oz. wool kilt tailored in Scotland.  I love it.  It’s heavy, warm, and can either be casual or dressy.  I would love to be able to afford Utilikilts and get rid of about half my pants.  Check out their Mockumercials.

I’m a fan of this, too.
Calif. Congresswoman Aims To Limit Ads’ Volume
http://www.npr.org/templates/story/story.php?storyId=92768082&ft=1&f=3

Basically, someone in Congress finally decided she was tired of variable volume between TV programs and commercials and is calling on the FCC to do something about it.  And here I’d thought common sense had left the Captiol Building.  Forget SmartSound, call in the U.S. Congress!  And the name of the bill:  Commercial Advertising Loudness Mitigation Act — the CALM Act.

I’m a fan of a lot of other things, too, and you can discover that as this journal develops, including things like, well, my religion, my wife, beer, gardening for food, soccer (mild fan), and baseball (mild fan).  I won’t say the teams I prefer for those last two sports, just to save myself from mass ridicule.

Short one for now, and that’s all I have to say.

Cheers,

Red Wolf
