A Poem & Prayer
The following free-form poem is also a prayer. For anyone who reads this, I would like some help with the Arabic and Greek included in (and omitted from) it. Take it for what you will…
A Prayer
Lord Jesus Christ, son of God, have mercy on me, a sinner.
Glory to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Spirit
Now and ever and unto the ages of ages…
Отче наш…
Aba na…
Πατερ ημων…
Our Father…
I bow to You; I sing to You;
I lay my heart at Your feet;
Or do I?
Do I come to You naked;
Or do I cover myself,
Only letting some of the darkness show through?
Do I come to You open;
Or do I chain the door,
Opening it just enough for You to look in?
Спаси меня и помоги меня…
Σωσει εμενα και να με βοηθησει…
Save me and help me…
I tell You with tears;
But I tell You with fears.
I am unworthy of Your Love.
Help me come clean.
Save me from myself.
Help me be closer to you.
Save me from this death.
Help me become human.
Save me from this beast.
Господи помилуй…
Ya Rabb, Irrham…
Κυριε ελεησον…
Lord, have mercy…
I stand before You,
Tears in my heart,
And it trembles.
You in the cup, on the spoon;
Will I die?
Will I Live?
The fire burns on my lips;
Burns down to my innermost being;
I pray I don’t choke.
Bread, water, and wine
The Body and Blood of Him,
He who died for me…
Love abounds, and I lift up my heart;
I lift it up to You, O Lord.
I pray for strength to give You
Honor, worship, glory, praise, thanksgiving;
I pray for strength to give You
Me.
Be Thou my vision.
Help me come to You
Just as I am;
And help me to see
Your amazing grace.
Help me to see the True Light.
I want to taste and see.
I know it is a good thing,
A right thing, a true thing
To sing to You,
To bless You,
To praise You,
To give thanks to You,
To worship You;
Help me to do so
At all times
In all places.
O God, have mercy on me and save me.
Hear the cry of a poor sinner.
Lord, hear my prayer.
Lord, have mercy.
Through the prayers of Your mother,
Through the prayers of Your saints,
Through the prayers of my spiritual fathers,
Have mercy on me and save me.
Amen.
